Wrapping Up the Ski Season in Crested Butte

As I mentioned last month, real estate sales have started off much slower this year than in 2013.  This continued to be true in March, but spring break brought more than just happy skiers to town.  29 properties from Almont north went under contract in March, bringing the total number properties under contract to 46.  Several of the properties were condos on the mountain, but there were some in town, CB South and Skyland too.

We do have some catching up to do so hopefully this trend continues.  To date there have been 48 sales north of Almont for a total of $18.8 million as compared to 70 sales for $28.7 million at this time last year.

Currently there are 365 residential properties for sale in the MLS compared with 448 at the same time last year.  I would expect the number of properties on the market to steadily increase as we approach the summer season.  If you haven’t already, let me know if there is something specific you are interested in and I will let you know  when the right thing comes along.   If you have a property you want to sell, this summer may be a good time to get it on the market.

Ski Season Ends April 6th

The skiing continues to be amazing in Crested Butte.  We received almost 2 feet of snow last week and enjoyed some beautiful spring skiing as well.  There is still a little bit of time for you to get out and enjoy it!

If you or anyone you know has a Peak or Peak Plus Pass with CBMR they are offering unlimited $55 Buddy Tickets for friends and family through the end of the season so there is no reason not to invite people to join you here or for you to ask a friend to let you use a couple of them.  With almost the entire mountain open and well covered, this is a bargain price!

As the season winds down so do the number of things going on in Crested Butte.  The last weekend of the ski season always provides some good entertainment with the Flauschink festivities, Slush Huck and general merriment on the mountain.

Crested Butte this Summer

Organizations throughout the valley are working on their summer events as we speak, but you can rest assured that there will be a lot going on from mid-June to late September.  There is something for everyone in Crested Butte during the summer.

It can be challenging and expensive to fly into Gunnison, but with some research and patience you can find good flights.  You can sign up to be notified when there are airfare deals in and out of the Gunnison/Crested Butte Airport.  Click here (http://www.flygunnisonairport.com) to join the Airfare Club.

DIRECT FLIGHTS FROM HOUSTON!  This summer you will be able to fly directly from Houston to Gunnison/Crested Butte on United.  The flights depart Houston at 5:45 pm and arrive at 7:06 pm on Wednesdays & Saturdays.  The plane will depart the next mornings (Thursdays & Sundays) at 8:00 am, arriving in Houston at 11:19 am.  These flights will happen June 21 to August 10.

We still have several feet of snow on the ground so it will be a while before we see green grass, but the wildflowers should be amazing this summer with all of this moisture!  Enjoy your spring and get excited for summer.  I’ll be getting a little sun in Mexico soon and my family is preparing for a once in a lifetime raft trip down the Grand Canyon in early June so I have a busy & fun spring ahead of me.  I am also working on some new initiatives for my business so look for more information from me on those.

Please let me know how I can assist you.  If anyone you know needs help with real estate in Crested Butte, please know that I am never too busy to get to know new people and am happy to help.  Recommending that your friends & family work with me is a wonderful compliment and I appreciate it.

I hope to see you in 2014!
