Fall Crested Butte Real Estate Update

Hello from beautiful Crested Butte!  It has been a while since my last newsletter.  I had a wonderful trip down the Grand Canyon and truly enjoyed spending the rest of the summer enjoying all Crested Butte has to offer.

This photo was taken last week before the weather turned this weekend.  Now there is snow on the peaks and even some on the ground.  The leaves were (and still are) amazing this year – lots of reds and oranges that we don’t usually see in our aspen forest.

As we get into October & November we are all preparing for ski season and what will hopefully be a very snowy winter. Things are supposed to be slowing down around here, but this last weekend felt like July with waits at every restaurant and warm weather.

After a dismal start to the year for real estate sales, things really picked up after the 4th of July.  As you can see from the stats below, we are still behind last year, but the gap has gotten significantly smaller.  At the end of the 2nd quarter we had sold $19 million less than in 2013 and today that difference is less than $6 million.  As you can see, land sales are much worse than last year while condo sales are the one segment that are actually better this year than last.
