Wildfire Prevention in the Crested Butte Area

It has been a wet summer in Crested Butte so we haven't had to fear wildfire like so many in the west.  In the last week there has been a haze over the mountains because smoke from the fires in Washington is blowing here and this has reminded us not to get complacent.  Colorado has had its share of fires over the last few years and it is important for property owners to be prepared. 2015 Sales Up, Land Sales Really Up, Prices Slightly Up, Inventory Down The headline sums up the year in Crested Butte real estate so far. Here are the numbers from the MLS for areas from Almont north to back it up. Protesting your Gunnison County Property Tax Valuation

Fall Crested Butte Real Estate Update

Hello from beautiful Crested Butte!  It has been a while since my last newsletter.  I had a wonderful trip down the Grand Canyon and truly enjoyed spending the rest of the summer enjoying all Crested Butte has to offer. Happy Memorial Day from Crested Butte!

Challenges and Opportunities

The Real Estate Market in Crested Butte has been slow so far in 2014.  As you can see from the charts below, we are well behind 2013 through April.  There are 44 additional properties under contract for another $24 million+ (asking price), so we could gain some ground in May.  There are several reasons for this slow down and several things that are happening to turn it around. * The rumored sale of the ski area put everything on hold while people waited to see what was going to happen.  Sellers thought it … [Read more...]
